This dataset contains the transition water bodies (surface objects) of New Aquitaine.
A transitional water body is a distinct and significant part of surface waters located near the mouths of rivers or rivers, which are partly salty because of their proximity to coastal waters but which remain fundamentally influenced by freshwater currents, constituting the elementary separation of aquatic environments to be the assessment unit of the Water Framework Directive (WFD).
DCE reporting correspondence: this entity corresponds to WISE’s Transitional Water Body (TWBODY) concept.
