New-Aquitaine: Wetland of International Importance (Ramsar Convention) — Perimeters (surface)

This dataset contains the boundaries of wetlands of international importance under the Ramsar Convention in the New Aquitaine region. A Ramsar Convention Wetland of International Importance is part of the Protected Natural Areas (ENP) that are designated or managed within an international, Community, national or local framework to achieve specific conservation objectives for the natural heritage. A Ramsar Convention Wetland of International Importance is a designated area under the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance, particularly as Waterbird Habitats, the treaty of which was signed in 1971 on the banks of the Caspian Sea (Iran). Its entry into force dates from 1975, ratification by France in 1986. Inclusion in the global Ramsar List requires that the site meets one or more criteria demonstrating its international importance. The objectives of the Ramsar Convention are to halt the loss of wetlands, to promote the conservation of wetlands, their flora and fauna, and to promote and promote the wise use of wetlands.
