Open data — Extract Alsace regional soil database — Base at 1/100 000th — version 2015

The data relate to soils, products of alteration, reshuffle and organisation of the upper layers of the earth’s crust under the action of life, atmosphere and energy exchange manifested there (Aubert and Boulaine). The thickness of the described medium rarely exceeds 2 m. These data may be useful for any study requiring spatialised soil information (production of agricultural or forest biomass, quality and quantitative management of water, biodiversity, carbon storage, erosion risk, spatial planning, landscape analysis, archaeology, etc.) Several information represented by soil mapping units is available with a dominant value and a secondary value proposed per cartographic unit, (soil may have significant spatial variability). List of parameters represented: parental material, surface pierrosity, surface texture, soil depth, characteristic of water circulation in the soil...This list can gradually be enriched. These open access data come from the extraction and processing of the Alsace soil database at 1/100 000 more complete and detailed managed by the Association pour la Relance Agronomique en Alsace (ARAA).
