Un piézomètre est un point d'observation piézométrique, qui est soit un ouvrage construit par l'homme (puits, forage, gravière, ...), ou bien un point naturel (source, aven, grotte, ...) qui permet de mesurer le niveau d'une nappe. Théoriquement, un piézomètre ne mesure que le niveau d'une et une seule nappe. Dans les faits, un piézomètre peut atteindre plusieurs nappes dont les niveaux piézomètriques peuvent être différents.
