Le plan de gestion paysager est une programmation sur cinq ans des actions principales à conduire pour préserver et améliorer la valeur patrimoniale des parcs, jardins, promenades et autres sites départementaux végétalisés. Un zonage cartographique est établi à l'échelle de chaque site, afin de déterminer des unités de gestion, chacune étant caractérisées par un mode de gestion différenciée: 1, entretien horticole (pour un jardin fleuri et stylisé), 2, entretien jardiné (pour un jardin paysager), 3, entretien rustique (pour un jardin ou une partie traité de manière champêtre), 4, entretien naturel (pour un jardin ou une partie traité de manière à respecter le cycle naturel des espèces).
