The product “Impermeabilisation” allows you to visualise the spatial and temporal dynamics of artificialisation of your territories. Waterproof surfaces are defined here as built-up areas for which the original natural or semi-natural surfaces have been replaced by an artificial cover, often impermeable, and generally maintained over long periods of time. The product “Impermeabilisation” provides layers of “Degree of waterproofing” every 3 years since 2006, and layers “Change of waterproofing” between 2 consecutive years.
The layers “Degree of waterproofing” quantify the degree of soil sealing per unit surface (pixel 20 m from 2006 to 2015, pixel 10 m from 2018), expressed as % (0 %: permeable surface — 100 %: completely waterproofed surface).
The quantitative product “Changement of waterproofing (degree)” is expressed as a % increase or decrease in the degree of waterproofing per pixel (from -100 % to + 100 %), at spatial resolutions of 20 m (2006 to 2015), 10 m (from 2018) and aggregated to 100 m.
The product classified as “Impermeability Change (type)” translates the type of change (without change/new waterproof cover/loss of waterproof cover/impermeability increase/waterproofing decrease) to a spatial resolution of 20 m (2006 to 2015) and 10 m (from 2018).
The sealing change layers were produced as a difference between the reference years.
For displaying WMS streams, the product at 100 m is displayed at low zoom levels and the product at 10 or 20 m at high zoom levels. The product “Impermeabilisation” is supplied by the European Earth Observation Programme Copernicus in raster format. This sheet gives you access to WMS feeds and data download links on the Copernicus website.
