Capture Feeding Area (AAFC): official term appearing in the Act on Water and Aquatic Environments (LEMA, No. 2006-1772, article 21) to refer to all surfaces contributing to the supply of the catchment or, in other words, all surfaces where any drop of water falling to the ground is likely to reach the catchment, either by infiltration or by runoff.
AAFCs refer to areas on the surface where the infiltrating water or runoff feeds the catchment.
The action programmes implemented on the AAFC are aimed at combating diffuse pollution and are set up at the initiative of the Prefect as part of the regulatory framework for Environmentally Constraint Areas (CESAs). The scopes to which these action programmes apply are the AAFC Protection Areas (PAACZ).
