UCS-UTS link:
the Soil Typological Unit (UTS) represents a portion of the soil cover that exhibits the diagnistoque characteristics of an identical pedogenesis and presents the same sequence of horizons in any place in space, with either of these horizons being absent.
Soils spotted by soil sampling and pits, but also in slopes or ditches, and which have similar soil characteristics and of the same intensity, are then considered to belong to the same Typological Unit of Soil.
In view of the restitution scale (1/250 000 th), map beaches made up of one or more STUs have been defined. Each UTS is assigned a percentage of representativeness within the UCS.
UTS-profile link:
In order to “illustrate” UTS, a modal profile (profile that best defines the UTS) has been selected by all the profiles made and described. The modal profile is the culmination of the synthesis of the field data surveyed (sodic fosses). This modal profile is characterised by different horizons as well as the main soil data (texture, colour...) and illustrated by a photograph.
