Studies carried out in the context of the Flood Directive — which sets out a framework to enable exposed territories to reduce the negative consequences of flooding — have, inter alia, made it possible to have the first elements of knowledge of the phenomenon of marine submersion.
These initial elements are based on:
— the establishment of near-bound envelopes for potential flooding (EAIP) by marine flooding in 2011;
— map details of the territories at significant flood risk in 2013.
From these data a Porter to knowledge of the marine submersion hazard was transmitted to the 27 coastal communes of the Var on 28 April 2017.
In order to improve the knowledge of marine submersions, a new study was commissioned by DREAL PACA from the BRGM. The area studied covers a geographical area ranging from La Camargue to Menton.
