The areas of activity still appear to be an important issue at the interface of territorial development and control of economic land.
Discussions during the design work of the Central Vosges SCoT confirmed this point.
In addition, recent reflections on urban sprawl in Lorraine (see iNSEE Lorraine n°177) show for the Vosges department a significant consumption of land, largely due to the development of the areas of activity.
Thus the Departmental Directorate of Territories (DDT) of the Vosges wished to have an insight into these phenomena of economic development and commissioned a localised study on the perimeter of the Country of Deodatia, territory positioned for the realisation of a possible SCoT.
As a first step, the diagnosis made it possible to put in perspective the supply and demand of economic areas, measure and locate land consumption, and thus point to inconsistencies between supply and demand both qualitatively and quantitatively.
On the basis of this observation, the second part of the study begins a prospective reflection to encourage the land economy, to take account of the demand of enterprises and to master these phenomena through the necessary organisation of the territory on a relevant scale and possibly by the beginning of a Scot.
The annexes to the report present a state of play (December 2009) in the form of fact sheets by communities of municipalities and municipalities in the Pays de la Déodatie.
