Dataset description

‘The pooling of a vehicle or fleet of motor vehicles for the benefit of users who are subscribers or authorised by the vehicle managing body or person. Each subscriber or authorised user may access a vehicle without a driver for the journey of his choice and for a limited period of time. (Article L.1231-14 of the Transport Code). Car sharing reduces dependence on owning a personal vehicle and promotes the transfer to other modes of mobility. In this sense, it reduces energy consumption and pollutant emissions. In addition, it frees up urban space previously used for parking vehicles. Carsharing has experienced very strong growth in recent years and has significant development potential. The company Citiz thus allowed a high visibility of the carsharing in the Grand East, as well as Autolib' in Paris. Most major French cities have this type of service: Strasbourg, Paris, Bordeaux, Nantes, Lyon, Lille, Marseille... Some carsharing services can be coupled with carpooling services in order to best fill shared vehicles (e.g. Clem'). 3 carsharing devices can be distinguished: • the “classical” carsharing with a “loop” route (return from the vehicle to the departure station) • carsharing in direct trace (the return of the vehicle can be done at a station different from that of the departure) • carsharing “without station” (Free-flow), where it is enough to leave the vehicle within a defined perimeter, which remains very rare (e.g. Yea service in Strasbourg).
