Limits of the control zones against the spread of chrysomele, a beetle pest with compulsory control of maize crops. They are determined, by prefectural decree, on a case-by-case basis and in each area concerned by the discovery of chrysomèle during summer trapping campaigns. Within each control zone, three ‘sub-areas’ are distinguished, namely:- a focal zone, whose limit is one kilometre from the field where maize chrysomele specimens have been caught, within which the use of insecticides and crop rotation are, among other measures, mandatory;- a safety zone, whose outer limit is five kilometres from that of the focus zone and within which the pest control, mandatory, either by crop rotation or by application of insecticides;- a buffer zone, whose outer limit is 34 kilometres away from that of the safe zone and where crop rotation is recommended.
