Strengthened Action Areas (RAAs) of the Regional Action Programme (PAR) to protect water from the pollution by nitrates of agricultural origin. European Directive 91/676/EEC of 12 December 1991, known as the Nitrates Directive, aims to protect water against pollution by nitrates of agricultural origin. It gave rise, in France, to four generations of departmental action programmes applicable to areas identified as vulnerable.
