Sub-departmental areas for estimating the market value of agricultural land consist of clusters of small agricultural regions. Small agricultural areas were defined in 1946 to highlight homogeneous agricultural areas. For some small agricultural regions, there are currently not enough transactions each year to estimate price developments with a constant market structure. Therefore, clusters of small agricultural areas have been carried out to define sub-departmental areas for estimating the market value of agricultural land. This operation was carried out as part of the methodological renovation of the method of estimating the price of land and meadows on the basis of individual notifications of transactions and retrocessions. This is a renovation carried out from 2007 to 2010 jointly by Terres d’Europe-Scafr and the Statistics and Prospective Service (SSP) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries, Rurality and Spatial Planning. It has resulted in the new set of farmland price estimates published since 2011.
