Dataset description

Zoning is considered the heart of a PLU. It is described in the urban planning code by different constituent areas: Article R 123-4. The Regulation delimits urban areas, areas to be urbanised, agricultural areas, and natural and forest areas. It lays down the rules applicable within each of those zones under the conditions laid down in Article R. 123-9 (...) Article R 123-5. Urban areas are referred to as U-zones. Can be classified as urban areas, areas already urbanised and sectors where existing or under construction public facilities have sufficient capacity to serve the buildings to be installed. Article R 123-6. The areas to be urbanised are referred to as ‘AU zones’. Can be categorised as urbanising the natural areas of the municipality intended to be open to urbanisation (...) Article R 123-7. Agricultural areas are referred to as ‘areas A’. Sectors of the municipality, whether equipped or not, to be protected because of the agronomic, organic or economic potential of agricultural land may be classified as agricultural areas (...) Article R 123-8. Natural and forest areas are referred to as N zones. Areas of the municipality, whether or not equipped, may be classified as natural and forest areas, to be protected either because of the quality of the sites, natural environments and spaces, landscapes and their interest, in particular from the aesthetic, historical or ecological point of view, either in the existence of a forestry operation or of their nature as natural areas (...)
