DREAL is responsible for monitoring compliance by operators with the regulatory requirements in force. In particular, they must be provided with a copy of the documents required by the regulations (in-depth technical visit report, monitoring and testing reports, hazard studies, safety review reports, etc.).
DREAL ensures the completeness and regularity of the analyses carried out by operators in their documents and monitors compliance with their commitments.
DREAL’s hydraulic works inspectors carry out, in parallel, routine on-site periodic inspections for all Class A, B and C works.
Such inspections shall give rise to a report notified to the operator, which shall, if necessary, contain specific requests from DREAL to which the operator must respond within a limited period of time. In the case of works presenting a manifest risk, DREAL proposes that the Prefect require the operator to modify the operating conditions of the work and/or the rendering of additional studies and/or the carrying out of works to improve the safety of the work, or even the removal of the dam.
