Dataset description

Strategic noise maps have been introduced as part of the transposition into French law of the European Directive 2002/49/EC of 25 June 2002 on the assessment and management of environmental noise. They are defined by Articles L.572-2 et seq. of the Environmental Code. Article R.572-5 of the Environmental Code and the Order of 4 April 2006 on the drawing up of noise maps provide that such maps shall be accompanied by the following exposure statistics: — Number of people living in residential buildings (rounded to the nearest 100 inhabitants) located in the noisy areas of the maps; — Number of educational and health institutions located in map noise areas; — Total area, in square kilometres and excluding railway infrastructure itself, exposed to Lden values greater than 55, 65 and 75 dB(A). The data L_BRUIT_EXPOSITION_INFRA_F_075 gathers the exposure statistics (populations, surfaces, educational and health institutions) that accompany the Paris Department’s strategic noise maps relating to railway infrastructure. At that date, it only incorporates statistics from the third-term maps of the SNCF network.
