The classification of ITTs covers infrastructures exceeding a certain daily flow threshold:
— road lanes with annual average daily traffic (AMT) exceeding 5000 vehicles per day
— clean-site public transport lines (SPTCs) with average daily traffic exceeding 100 trainsets or buses per day.
The tracks are classified into 5 categories (1 the noisest, 5 the least noisy)
The 2014 classification represents a linear of 1 057 km and concerns 196 commune. Most are directly concerned by one or more ITTs; some “buffer” municipalities are concerned only by the nuisance area of an ITT located in a neighbouring municipality.
