Pursuant to Article R. 211-81-1 II of the Environmental Code, parts of vulnerable areas have been demarcated under the Enhanced Action Areas. They correspond to the water abstractions for human consumption entered in the Register of Protected Areas attached to the Master Plan for Water Management and Management (SDAGE) for which the nitrate content is greater than 50 milligrams per litre (determined on the basis of the 90 percentile between January 2009 and September 2013).
The delimitation of these areas is based primarily on the catchment feeding areas (AAFC or LAC) (defined in the framework of a prefectural decree on areas subject to environmental constraints or a hydro-geological study carried out for the determination of the catchment protection perimeters validated by the Regional Health Agency (ARS)) or, in the absence of AAC on the remote protection perimeters listed in the corresponding decrees and, as a last resort, in the territory of the municipality of the head office of the catchment point.
