Dataset description

Classification of seismic zones in the departments of the Hautes-Pyrénées. Since 22 October 2010, France has had a new seismic zoning dividing the national territory into five zones increasing seismicity depending on the probability of occurrence of earthquakes (sections R563-1 to R563-8 of the Code of the Environment as amended by Decrees No 2010-1254 of 22 October 2010 and No 2010-1255 of 22 October 2010, as well as that by the Order of 22 October 2010): — an area of seismicity 1 where there is no specific seismic requirement for buildings at normal risk (the seismic hazard associated with this area is described as very low), — four seismicity zones 2 to 5, where seismic construction rules apply to new buildings, and old buildings under special conditions. The new seismic construction rules as well as the new seismic zoning (which amend the articles) 563-1 to 8 of the Environmental Code) came into force as of May 1, 2011. This classification translates for the Métropole into a classification of municipalities in zones 1 to 4; zone 5 is listed only in Guadeloupe and Martinique. In the Hautes-Pyrénées department, all the municipalities are classified: — in zone 2: low risk, — in zone 3: moderate risk — or in zone 4: medium risk The whole department is therefore subject to seismic construction rules.
