The Departmental Directorate of the Territories and the Sea of Pas-de-Calais has been commissioned to carry out the inspection of the structures to combat erosion and marine submersion of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais coast using the Simplified Comparé (VSC) method set up by CEREMA (former CETE Nord-Pas-de-Calais-Picardie).
The objectives of this study are:
1. Comprehensively identify and accurately identify the heritage of coastal defences to combat natural or artificial marine submersions.
2. To have uniform instruments for measuring and monitoring this asset in order to ensure its coordinated management.
3. Carry out a comprehensive, coordinated and comparative assessment of this heritage against these homogeneous measuring and monitoring instruments in relation to the theme of marine submersion.
· Phase 1 led by CETE Nord-Pas-de-Calais-Picardie:
This file specifies the VSC method and applies it to two test areas.
Mission to assess the state of the heritage of structures protecting the polders against the risks of marine submersions/VSC method (8/11/2010)
· Phase 2 led by DDTM 62 (Sea and Coastal Delegation)

All coastal structures in the Pas-de-Calais department have been inspected according to the VSC method, with the exception of works located on the public harbour domain as well as dune cords in areas with no stakes.
Each work inspected thus has a mechanical status index
