A housing pool is made up of all parts of the territory where the vast majority of households live in one of the members of the labour force. Land markets are formed across each habitat basin since by choosing a place of residence, each household may, by hypothesis, compare the advantages and disadvantages of any location within the habitat basin. All locations are therefore potentially in competition. Conversely, locations of a similar nature, but located in different basins, are not in competition and therefore do not belong to the same market.
In addition, the habitat basin takes into account both geographical data (canton, district,...) polarisation and radiation criteria (migrations, equipment, catchment area, employment centre,...) identities as well as economic and social dynamics
