The data package contains the perimeters of the vulnerable areas of the Rhine-Meuse basin administrative district.
Vulnerable areas are the land designated in accordance with Article 3(2) of European Directive No 91-676 whose objectives set out in its first article are:
— reduce water pollution caused or induced by nitrates
from agricultural sources,
— and prevent any further pollution of this type.
Vulnerable areas are areas affected by pollution and those likely to be affected if the measures provided for in Article 5 of the Directive are not taken. Each area shall cover a geographical area which covers all or part of the territory of one or more municipalities.
The list of vulnerable areas is drawn up under the responsibility of the Ministry responsible for the environment
