Simple download service (Atom) of the dataset: Zoning of municipalities eligible for the herd protection measure against predation in the Jura in 2021

These areas are defined by prefectural decree: Order 39-2021-01-15-001 signed on 09 February 2021 delimiting the areas of eligibility for the system of protection of herds against predation (circles 1, 2 and 3) for the year 2021 (collection of administrative acts of Jura No 39202102004 published on 12/02/2021). This order is made on the basis of evidence of presence or predator attacks. The amended Order of 19 June 2009 on the operation to protect the environment in rural areas concerning the protection of herds against predation specifies the procedures for this action. The following shall be differentiated: — areas where predation is found and in which at least one indication of presence of the species has been identified by the French Office for Biodiversity over the last 2 years, known as the ‘first circle’; — areas where preventive action is needed due to the possible occurrence of wolf predation during the current year, called “second circle”. —areas corresponding to the areas of geographical expansion of the wolf and where preventive action is encouraged as a result of the possible occurrence of wolf predation in the medium term, called “third circle”. In order to limit attacks on domestic herds and to assist breeders who may be confronted with the presence of predators, support for enhanced guarding, nocturnal grouping of animals and the use of protective dogs is available in risk areas defined annually by prefectural decree (measure 323 c1 of the hexagonal rural development programme). The level of this aid and the commitments linked to it depend on the size of the herd and the duration of grazing in the areas of eligibility.
