A listed site is an artistic, historical, scientific, legendary or picturesque site.
The objectives are the protection and conservation of a natural or built space, regardless of its extent. This procedure is widely used in the context of the protection of a “landscape”.
The procedure is at the initiative of the Departmental Committee on Nature, Landscapes and Sites or after its opinion.
The classification procedure depends on the status of the person who owns the site. The classification decision is taken by order of the minister responsible for the sites or by decree in the Council of State.
