En 2007, la Région Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur a mis en place un programme de soutien et de développement des énergies renouvelables (AGIR). Sa mise en oeuvre se décline au travers de plusieurs appels à projet dont un concerne spécifiquement les territoires et le bois énergie (Actions de Solidarité avec les Territoires : ASTER Bois).
