ZNIEFF Type 1 in Guyana — 2014

ZNIEFFs are Natural Areas of Ecological, Floristic and Faunistic Interest. The sectors that may be concerned cover the entire national, land, river and marine territory. They must be particularly interesting from an ecological point of view, in particular because of the balance or richness of the ecosystems they constitute, the presence of rare and endangered plant or animal species. There are two types of ZNIEFF: — type I ZNIEFF: areas of high biological or ecological interest; — type II ZNIEFF: large rich and unmodified natural ensembles, offering important biological potentialities.
