Dataset description

This dataset contains the perimeter polygon of the active eel zone on the watershed of l'Adour. In response to the worrying decline in the population of European eels, the European Commission issued a regulation in September 2007 which establishes measures for the recovery of the stock of eels and required each Member State to submit a management plan to safeguard the species by 31 December 2008. In order to comply with the European regulation, France submitted on 17 December 2008 its first national plan for the management of eel (PGA), which corresponds to a first three-year management cycle (2009-2011). The European Commission approved the management plan for French eel by a decision of 15 February 2010. The objectives of the PGA 2009-2011 are to: — initiate the reduction of the different mortality factors of eel; — allow for the acquisition of data necessary for #x27; achievement of the objectives of the Regulation; — facilitate the evaluation of the plan in 2012; — prepare the following plan 2012-2015. Among the areas hosting different stages of maturity of eel (biological criteria), we distinguish, according to the importance of colonisation of the zone: — the colonizable areas where the presence of eel has been recorded; — colonised areas characterised by populations of 'eel of various sizes and ages; — active areas housing individuals of less than 30 cm renewing the stock in place. The upstream limit of this area reached by these young individuals is called " colonisation front;. __Origin__ The distribution of eels was analysed by taking into account the presence of eels during the surveys by electric fishing (data from the Hydrobiological and Piscicol Network (RHP) of ONEMA for the period before 2007) by distinguishing the colonising (<30cm) and sedentary (>30cm) stages. The active zone is characterised by the presence of individuals less than 30 cm, which shows recent colonisation (less than 5 years). __Partner organisations__ DREAL Nouvelle-Aquitaine/MiCAT/PIG __Links annexes__ * [XML metadata view](http://ogc.geo-ide.developpement-durable.gouv.fr/csw/all-dataset?REQUEST=GetRecordById&SERVICE=CSW&VERSION=2.0.2&RESULTTYPE=results&elementSetName=full&TYPENAMES=gmd:MD_Metadata&OUTPUTSCHEMA=http://www.isotc211.org/2005/gmd&ID=fr-120066022-jdd-6cc38f9e-2dfc-437e-8d83-7d1652e3b5c5) [See this page on geo.data.gouv.fr](https://geo.data.gouv.fr/fr/datasets/437e6f8574c06326dd04ef4d81058ba3ed0609f8)
