The data standard covers geographical zoning delimited within the framework of a designation of ' Protected origin (PDO) or a protected geographical indication (PGI).The PDO, the protected designation of origin, corresponds to the designation of origin controlled at European level. It is the name of a region, d' a specified place or, in exceptional cases, a country, which is used to designate an agricultural product or food originating in that region, place or country, of which:- the quality or characteristics of which are essentially or exclusively due to the geographical environment comprising natural and human factors and,- production, processing and #x27; preparation takes place in the defined geographical area.L' PGI, Protected Geographical Indication is defined by Article 2 of Regulation (EC) 510/2006. C' is the name of a region, d'a specific place or, in exceptional cases, a country, used to designate an agricultural product or a food:• originating in that region, place or country• and of a given quality, reputation or #x27; other characteristics may be attributed to that geographical origin• and whose production and/or processing and/or #x27; development takes place in the defined geographical area.In the same name, different geographical names, different terms and different products can be found, the product being the most precise “unit” that can be defined within a PDO/PGI specification. A product may be the subject of a particular delimitation. This standard distinguishes three zonings:• l' geographical area of' a PDO or a PGI corresponding to the delimited area in which s#x27; perform all the steps (for PDOs) or certain steps (for PGIs) of the production of #x27; a PDO or PGI.• l' a delimited parcel area of PDO or DOP; a PGI corresponding to a delimitation based on the administrative boundaries of the cadastre (the parcels) and whose sufficiently fine mesh size makes it possible to take account of very localised variations of the elements of the physical environment. This delimitation is used mainly for wine-growing PDOs and PGIs and in this case corresponds to the production area of the raw material.• the specific areas of PDO or PDO or PGI corresponding to a stage of production of PDO or PGI (breeding, slaughter, etc.).
