Dataset description

The law of 27 February 2002 so-called local democracy established the census of ‘geological, mineralogical and palaeontological wealth... of the national land, river and marine territory’. It therefore imposed the establishment of a National Inventory of Geological Heritage (INPG). This inventory was officially launched in 2007 by the Ministry of Environment and is under the scientific responsibility of the MNHN (National Museum of Natural History). To do this, a precise method has been developed*. It gives the possibility to describe the sites of French geological interest in ‘files’ and to prioritise them according to two main notations: the Heritage Note of Interest (PIN) and the Need for Protection Note (NBP). Once drafted, the ‘sheets’ are validated on two levels: regional level by the Regional Scientific Council of Natural Heritage (CSRPN) and at national level by the National Validation Commission (CNV) *De Wever P., Egoroff G., Cornée A. and Lalanne A. (eds.) (2014) — Géopatrimoine in France. Memoirs Outside Series of the Geological Society of France (14): 1-180. __Origin__ The perimeter of INPG sites is defined based on cadastral boundaries or existing physical boundaries (e.g. rivers, paths, roads). It includes areas where objects of geological interest are visible as well as adjoining surfaces where they are potentially and sufficiently present. The parcel layer used (to delineate cadastral boundaries) is the IGN® parcel BD layer based on the June 2018 IGN parcel BD data. The topographic map used (to delineate physical boundaries) is the tiled map of the SCAN 25® of the National Geographic Institute — Edition S2 2018. __Partner organisations__ DDTM Somme, DRIEE IF (Regional and Interdepartmental Directorate of Environment and #x27; Energy d'Ile-de-France) __Links annexes__ * [XML metadata view](http://ogc.geo-ide.developpement-durable.gouv.fr/csw/all-dataset?REQUEST=GetRecordById&SERVICE=CSW&VERSION=2.0.2&RESULTTYPE=results&elementSetName=full&TYPENAMES=gmd:MD_Metadata&OUTPUTSCHEMA=http://www.isotc211.org/2005/gmd&ID=fr-120066022-jdd-95a5e7e8-54d6-417d-a477-926aa703ae79) [See this page on geo.data.gouv.fr](https://geo.data.gouv.fr/fr/datasets/f9a34f64f0427fb8cae9ea72fc8b2c222fd6bd00)
