C' is a departmental-level regulatory protection tool, the implementation of which is
relatively flexible. It is part of the protected areas covered primarily by the strategy of
creation of protected areas (SCAP), and is classified as category IV of IUCN as a
management. Most biotope protection areas are monitored directly at
through a committee placed under the authority of the prefect, i.e. indirectly within the framework of mechanisms
such as Natura 2000 and by local ownership.
In the case of a biotope protection order defining several zones where rules
separate s' apply (e.g.: courses d'water d' on the one hand and water catchment area d' on the other hand), the
geometry to be retained to map the protection zone corresponds to l' envelope
the largest geographical area.
