Citizenship training

Citizenship training brings together all public actions that help to provide young people with knowledge about citizenship, promote citizens’ behaviour — such as citizenship and social commitment — and provide them with the frameworks to exercise them. While traditionally based on civic education at school and, for young men, military service, this training has undergone a profound transformation. Over the past two decades, public authorities have multiplied initiatives, leading to a stacking of devices. To strengthen citizenship education, the Court makes eight recommendations, which also aim at strengthening, coordinating and steering youth engagement mechanisms.
