A re-division of the French cantons is defined by the law of 17 May 2013 and the decrees d' application published in February and March 2014.
Under this law, the districts of the cantons allow the election of departmental assemblies, renamed departmental councils by majority, binominal and joint elections.
Indeed, this re-splitting is accompanied by a voting method to promote parity: each new canton is represented by two departmental councillors, a man and a woman, elected in pairs.
The Ministry of Interior makes available on the platform data.gouv.fr the outlines of the electoral cantons for the year 2015 in a reusable format.
