The Digital Barometer is a reference study on the adoption by the French of digital equipment and uses. It is the result of a collaboration between the Conseil générale de l’économie (CGE) and the Autorité de régulation des communications électroniques et des Postes (Arcep) since 2003, with which the Agence du Numérique has partnered for the 2016 edition.
Every year, in June, the Research Centre for the Study and Observation of Living Conditions (Credoc) questions a sample of more than 2,000 people representative of the French population face-to-face. They are asked about the nature of their equipment (telephony, computer, tablet, etc.) and their digital uses (social networks, e-commerce, e-government, etc.).
