Data from the following digital consultation campaign: The status of Paris
The consultation was open on Madame la Maire, I have an idea! from 26 January to 16 February 2016.
In a context of profound territorial and institutional reform, involving the creation on 1 January 2016 of the Metropolis of Greater Paris, the Parisian municipality wished to engage in the construction of the Parisian community of the 21st century. This project was based on three axes: merging the city and the department, regrouping the boroughs, giving back to the city its skills.
Key for all Parisians: a more efficient and cost-effective public action, a new democratic impulse and a division of competences finally understandable by all.
This project to modernise and standardise the Paris Statute is based on a method: the consultation.
A working group open to the 20 borough mayors and all the presidents of the political groups of the Paris Council met regularly to discuss and build this approach. This reform, which requires a legislative amendment, was examined by the Parliament (National Assembly and Senate) in 2016.
Parisians also had a say. Thus, in order to feed this debate and the proposals that the Mayor of Paris has addressed to the Government with a view to changing the status of Paris, Paris wished to engage in a consultation with the Parisians so that they express their expectations and their proposals.
