With 625,700 candidates and 539,100 laureates, the success rate at the 2009 session was 86.2 %. The number of bachelors, as well as those of candidates, increased compared to 2008 in the general and professional pathways, and decreased in the technological path. The proportion of bachelors in a generation increases by 3.2 points compared to last year.
In 2009, 65.6 % of young people of a generation obtained the bachelor’s degree: 35.1 % in a general series, 16.0 % in a technological series, 14.5 % in a professional series. The increase in the success rate is largely due to the professional bachelor’s degree. Indeed, with the introduction of catch-up tests at the 2009 session, the success rate for the professional baccalaureate reached 87.3 %, an increase of 10.3 points compared to 2008.
Overall, the success rate increases slightly (1 point compared to 2008) and thus stands at 88.9 %, a level never reached in previous years.
In the technological path, the number of successful candidates decreased more strongly than the number of candidates, leading to a reduction in the success rate of 0.5 points (79.8 % compared to 80.3 % in 2008).
