Owner of 505 km and manager of 425 kilometers of waterways representing more than 4,850 hectares of public domain that borders them, the Brittany Region is responsible for a transport network that is characterised not only by its extent but also by the many natural resources and various uses it carries. Pursuant to the Environmental Code (L214-17), on 10 July 2012 the State classified watercourses in terms of their ecological status and in particular their biological potential. A compliance program with this regulatory framework is under way and aims to equip fish-passing structures.
