Flowery towns and villages in Haute-Garonne (2018 results)

**The award ceremony of the Villes et villages Fleuris de Haute-Garonne competition awards municipalities that offer an image and an environment conducive to tourist attraction.** In 2018, 70 municipalities in the department registered for the competition. 45 municipalities were awarded for their actions in favor of flowering, landscaping and the protection of a plant and natural heritage, conducive to the well-being of their inhabitants and tourists. As part of its tourism development policy and concerned with the quality of life of Haut-Garonnais, the Departmental Council undertakes every year, through the Departmental Tourism Committee, to support the attractiveness of the territories and to preserve green and sustainable tourism. _**The zero phyto in the first row**_ Visits throughout the territory took place during June and July, bringing 12 professionals to discover the various municipalities participating in the competition. The jury, composed of elected officials, professionals in tourism, landscape, horticulture, planning and the environment and technicians from municipalities, met in October to deliberate. The criteria to be shown in the competition? Flowering as such, but also the enhancement of the municipality’s heritage. In addition, the jury has now added an environmental requirement to its criteria: working on the beautification of its commune by getting closer to the _zero phyto_ thus earns points, as well as the development of a project to be presented in the competition with the collaboration of associations and/or schools. It should be noted that 180 private gardeners also presented themselves to participate in the competition — a unique Haut-garonnaise — a selection of which received a prize for the aesthetic and environmental quality of their green spaces.
