Gas Outlook 2022 — Green Gas Production Scenario 2050

**Green gas production scenarios by 2050 (Gas Outlook 2022 edition)** This dataset returns the reference scenario for renewable gas production in France by 2050 presented in the document “Gas Outlook 2022”. This document comes from a collaboration of GRDF, GRTgaz, Teréga and SPEGNN, in accordance with the recommendations of the energy code. Article L. 141-10 of the Energy Code confers on transmission and distribution system operators the responsibility to draw up annual multi-annual forecasts of gas demand and renewable gas production in France. In France, the estimated national production potential by 2050 confirms that a complete substitution of natural gas consumption with renewable and low-carbon gases can be effective. Several studies (ADEME, Solagro, France Stratégie, Enea Consulting, France Renewable Gas (FGR), Association Technique Energie Environnement (ATEE)...) confirm a renewable methane production potential of 430 TWh by 2050. From this total potential, the scenario presented here incorporates renewable and low-carbon gases up to 20 % of consumption by 2030, and 100 % of consumption by 2050, compared to the reference consumption scenario “Adjusted TERRITOIRES” published in the report of the Gas Outlook 2022\. The consumption scenario “TERRITOIRES adjusted” is also available in open data therefore, coupled with the baseline production scenario, a scenario consistent with a national vision based on the complementarity of energies and solutions in compliance with our carbon obligations. The scenario declines the production prospects for the various production sectors by 2050: methanisation, pyrogasification, hydrothermal gasification and methanation.
