The hydrometric station in the current version of the HYDRO bank (version 2) is an intermediate notion between hydrometric sites and hydrometric stations as defined in the Sandre Hydrometric Reference Dictionary.
In the dictionary, a hydrometric site is designated as the geographical location (cut of water courses) on which flow measurements are made and deemed homogeneous and comparable to each other. Nevertheless, for a mapping operation, the hydrometric site is usually reduced to a point, the characteristic point of the hydrometric site.
The hydrometric station is defined as l' apparatus installed on a site to observe and measure a specific magnitude related to hydrology (height or flow). It is generally a limnimetric scale that allows l' observation of the height of water.
A station may carry a height and/or flow rate (directly measured or calculated from a curve)
of tarage).
Each station has one or more sensors (= apparatus measuring a size, height or flow).
