The 20th century Heritage Label was created by the Ministry of Culture and Communication in 1999, in response to the Council of Europe’s recommendation of 9 September 1991 calling for the identification and study of 20th century architecture in order to avoid ‘irreparable losses of this moment of European memory’. It identifies and reports to the public, by means of a logo designed for this purpose, buildings and urban complexes protected or not under the Historic Monuments, which are representative of the creations of the 20th century.
