Dataset description

In order to show the role played by intangible capital and innovation in the economic development of French territories, the European Chair of Intangible at Paris-Saclay University has developed two indices: the Territorial Innovation Index (IIT) and the Territorial Immaterial Capital Index (ICIT). These indices synthesise a set of 26 variables articulated around 6 pillars: * human capital, which includes investment in health (health professionals) and higher education (the graduates), * capital renewal, with the number of researchers and staff in Research & Development (R & D), scientific and technical jobs and R & D expenditure, * institutional capital, which measures the quality of governance, trust in institutions and freedom of expression; * social capital, both cognitive (trust of others) and structural (membership of a particular trade union or association), * digital capital, with households with internet and broadband access, * entrepreneurial capital, with the number of companies created and more than 3 years old. With the support of the Fédération Nationale des Banques Populaires and the Banque Populaire Val de France, the European Chair of Intangible conducted this study on the 295 European regions, as well as for the French territories, departments and regions — for the period 2006-2020. The dataset presented here delivers a first part, the ICIT and IIT indices for the year 2019 and across the territory of Banque Populaire Val de France.
