Inventory of volumes preserved by the André-Desguine Library
* * *
The André-Desguine Library, which bears the name of its donor, is rich in nearly 55,000 volumes.
The exceptional nature of the donation is due as much to its quantitative importance as to its chronological magnitude. Indeed, it has 8000 editions prior to 1800, including 158 incunables. As for the approximately 44,000 volumes of modern collections (more than half of the 19th century editions), they offer, by their completeness in many fields, a global overview of the intellectual and social history of this period.
What also distinguishes this heritage collection is the formidable tool it constitutes to understand the history of the printed book.
**Special observations**
A retraining project is currently underway. This dataset is therefore not an exhaustive inventory of the collection. It contains only documents that have already been rewritten and will be enriched each year.
