Label Grands Sites de France in Burgundy-Franche-Comté region

The Grand Site de France label is a selective and demanding label, which is issued to the manager of a remarkable site, protected by its classification under the law of 2 May 1930. It is awarded for a period of six years, after consulting the Higher Commission of Sites, Perspectives and Landscapes, by the MTES. The label recognises both the high heritage value of the site, the quality of its maintenance and the interest of the proposed preservation, management and development project for the future. An Operation Grand Site (OGS) is the approach proposed by the State to local authorities to respond to the difficulties posed by the reception of visitors and the maintenance of sites classified with high notoriety subject to high attendance. It makes it possible to define and implement a concerted project of restoration, preservation and development of the territory. It applies to a site classified under Articles L.341-1 to 22 of the Environmental Code (Law of 2 May 1930) facing a problem of tourist attendance or maintenance for which the management decisions of the site are necessary. This “Grand Site de France” label, owned by the State, has a legal scope since 2010 (Article L. 341-15-1 of the Environmental Code) It is strongly recommended that project and development owners approach the manager of the large site of France in advance of their project to know the orientations and objectives of the GSF.
