The Métropole Européenne de Lille (MEL) has adopted a Master Plan for Transport Infrastructure (SDIT), setting out its road map for large, structured public transport infrastructure by 2035. This scheme, the subject of deliberation No 19 C 0312, adopted at the Metropolitan Council of 28 June 2019, provides, inter alia, for the creation of new structuring public transport links.
The SDIT is operationally divided into two components corresponding to the major public transport infrastructure linked to the metropolitan area:
\- The regional rail network, in its role of linking with the metropolitan networks, becoming a constituent part of the urban transport network, in particular through its tariff integration.
\- New “Metropolitan” connections by public transport.
The projects of this consultation are among the most structuring elements of these “new links” comprising about twenty separate projects, ranging from the extension of the metro to the improvement of the level of service of certain existing lines or the creation of circular bus lines and the establishment of express bus links.
This scheme was the subject of a two-month consultation in the first half of 2019. As far as the general public is concerned, 8000 internet connections and 859 Internet users contributed to the consultation (320 replies to the questionnaire, 329 contributions on the links proposed by the MEL, 99 proposals for Internet links and 111 free contributions).
