The Low Emissions Mobility Zone of the Strasbourg Eurometropole entered into force on 1 January 2022 for the most polluting vehicles not classified and classified as Crit’Air 5. Their final ban on movement and parking will be effective on 1 January 2023. 2022 is dedicated to communicating, supporting households and organising change. Pedagogical checks are carried out during this preparation phase.
The perimeter of the ZFE-m covers the whole Eurometropole with the exception of the following routes to allow the area to be bypassed by the north and south for transit journeys:
* On the A4 north of the A4/A35 interchange in Vendenheim
* On the A35 north of the A4/A35 interchange in Vendenheim
* On the M35 to the interchange n°10 called Geispolsheim
* On the M353
The ZFE-m covers all types of motorised vehicles: passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, heavy goods vehicles, buses and coaches, two and three motorised wheels. It is therefore aimed at both individuals and economic actors in the territory. It will apply continuously, 7 days a week and 24 hours a day.
The bans on the use and parking of vehicles according to their Crit’Air sticker will gradually be strengthened, with the phasing out of the most polluting vehicles, in order to ultimately allow only the least polluting vehicles to be used (Crit’Air 1 and electric or hydrogen-powered). A pedagogical phase will precede each date of a definitive ban on movement and parking. The chosen timetable meets a number of objectives: a coherent and readable system for all in the Eurometropole territory, a temporality that allows everyone to adapt their mobility practices, and the improvement of air quality and public health.
The opening of the educational steps for the implementation of the ZFE-m will take place according to the following timetable, in order to:
* Crit’Air 5: pedagogical phase: January 2022; definitive prohibition: January 2023
* Crit’Air 4: pedagogical phase: January 2023; definitive prohibition: January 2024
* Crit’Air 3: pedagogical phase: January 2024; definitive prohibition: January 2025
* Crit’Air 2: pedagogical phase: January 2025; definitive prohibition: January 2028
This progressive timetable may be adapted in the light of regular assessments and possible regulatory developments.
An individualised and free advice is offered in order to find decarbonised solutions to travel, and to enable residents and businesses to obtain all information on the modalities of their practices and to apply for existing aid. As a first step in the process of changing mobility, personal advice allows individuals and professionals to obtain an objective and factual diagnosis of practices.
