This layer of polylines describes the bike routes of Rennes Métropole’s 2018 bicycle master plan.
These schematic data are intended to be used on small scales (1:50 000th).
These data are used to schematically know the state of the existing cycle links and to draw up maps of the bicycle master plan. The link projects are therefore included.
The master plan is not intended to replace local bicycle plans but to complete them.
The main links constitute the Bicycle Express Network.
Secondary links = cycle links of an intercommunal nature or allowing to serve structuring equipment, major exchange hubs or areas of important activities beyond the Bicycle Express Network. On this network, the aim is to ensure a continuity of route through various facilities (developments dedicated to cycles or not) by taking as much as possible on existing roads and paths. Where conditions are appropriate, the possible use of shared roads is one of the possible solutions (subject to condition).
Alternative routes = alternative cycle routes allowing to connect 2 municipalities between it pending the development of links + direct, + safe, + comfortable. In some cases, the link may nevertheless justify the implementation of small adjustments and/or ad hoc improvements to meet the needs.
Routes not selected = itineraries envisaged but ultimately not selected because considered incompatible and/or inappropriate with the objectives of the metropolitan bicycle master plan.
The layer also includes (non-exhaustive) information on the status of the routes: carried out, to be improved, to be created which will be updated at regular intervals according to the progress of the projects.
Ad hoc updates may be made to take account of the implementation of projects or new applications.
