Dataset description
This statistic contains data on the prison population in France. It makes it possible to distinguish the number of arrested persons detained (inmates in prisons) and the number of persons imprisoned not detained (outside placement not housed and placement under electronic supervision).
National data on the 1st day of each month (population broken down by status (detainee or not), sex, criminal category and age (miners/majors)).
Following a consolidation with the “Monthly statistics of persons in prison in sentencing”, since May 2015, the tables concerning the changes of sentence have been added to this dataset.
