The MEL relaunches the Grand National Debate allowing the inhabitants of its 90 communes to make their contributions.
As mentioned in his letter to the French on 14 January, the President of the Republic Emmanuel MACRON launched, from 15 January to 15 March, a Grand National Debate on four themes:
\-Taxes, expenditure, public action
\- Organisation of state and community
\- Ecological transition
\- Democracy and citizenship
The aim of the citizens’ proposals is “to build a new contract for the Nation, to structure the actions of the Government and the Parliament, but also France’s positions at European and international level”. The President of the Republic, in his letter, undertakes to report on it in the month following the end of the debate.
This Grand National Debate is intended to be relayed at the level of the territories and municipalities, the level of proximity of the citizens.
That is why Damien Castelain, President of the European Metropolis of Lille, wished to share the modalities of this Grand Debate at the metropolitan level so that national issues can find an echo at the local level, to bring back to the government detailed problems, specific to our metropolis and the challenges it faces but also to allow every resident of the metropolis wherever he may be able to express himself.
The President of the European Metropolis of Lille will forward your proposals to the bodies in charge of analysing this consultation in order to feed into this National Debate.
