Dataset description
BD ORTHO® \— The ORTHO® BD is currently updated at a rate of 3 or 4 years. About thirty new departments are produced each year and available “over the water”. Online resources are continuously updated. The ORTHO® BD is now produced by default at a resolution of 20 cm, in color and infrared color. See the pages of the [BD ORTHO®](https://geoservices.ign.fr/bdortho#telechargement) of the IGN. BD ORTHO® History \— The resolution (field size of the pixel) is 50 centimetres which allows a working scale in the order of 1/5000th. This data allows you to track changes in landscapes over time. These may include industrial development, transport, urbanisation, but also agricultural waste, hydraulic works, changes in cultural practices that are easily visible by comparing current and old views. The Region financed 35 per cent of the base, while the remaining six departments financed the remainder, according to defined distribution keys.
